The Red Boots is a horror film short, roughly 5 to 7 minutes in length, filming December 15th at The Monocle in Saint Louis. Post production will be completed by February 15th in time for submission in the 2020 festival season.
The film will introduce actress/dancer Tara Zou in a solo performance supported only by score and sound effects.
About the film:
An un-named girl wanders into and abandoned theater and finds a pair of Patent Red Leather boots. Unable to resist the urge, the girl tries them on, as soon as her feet touch the floor, she is unable to resist the urge to dance and delighted to find that in these boots she is an amazing dancer. As she dances she finds herself transformed, no longer just a girl, on stage she is a star, but transformation comes at a price.
The film is a short interpretation of The Red Shoes Ballet featured in the 1948 film, The Red Shoes and the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale.
“The Red Boots” film has no subtext, social or political message. It is simply art for art’s sake and intended to be a beautiful but horrific film for fans of horror, dance, pole and music.
